CarpatDome — capability brief
ACID URBAN MEDIA SRL · Iași, Romania ·
Mission
A passive RF sensing layer for distributed counter-UAS: a mesh of receive-only COTS receivers that detects and classifies small UAS by their radio and, for RF-silent airframes, by their acoustic signature — and, as an experimental layer, localises them across nodes. Designed to densify radar, EO/IR and existing C2, not to replace them.
Current maturity
Software demonstrator complete (v1 + v1.1, extended 7 September 2026 with the node runtime, an acoustic layer and an integration port). Physical reference node: components received, assembly not started; no outdoor field experiment has been run. TRL 3. No measured detection performance is claimed.
What works today
Passive Remote ID / OpenDroneID decoding (Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Long Range). Sub-GHz RF energy scanning and signal classification via RTL-SDR. Acoustic detection, class and bearing for RF-silent drones. MQTT event transport with versioned JSON contracts. Multi-node fusion into one contact per drone with a confidence score. Live C2 radar map over REST and WebSocket, with node health and incident export. 192 of 194 automated tests pass; the 2 excluded carry hardware and integration markers.
Experimental
TDoA cross-correlation and multilateration, end-to-end in software on synthetic IQ. Unvalidated against ground truth. Acoustic layer tested on synthetic audio only.
Not claimed
No live-hardware detection. No field-validated localisation. No measured range, probability of detection, or localisation accuracy. No 2.4/5.8 GHz FPV-link coverage in the current receiver chain — RTL-SDR reaches 1.77 GHz; Remote ID on 2.4/5.8 GHz is decoded in software over receivers that are received but not assembled. No effector, no jamming, no spoofing, no take-over. No radar replacement. The FPV scenarios in the demonstrator assume 2.4/5.8 GHz coverage this receiver chain does not have. No acoustic field measurement.
Integration surface
MQTT with versioned JSON message contracts (schema id, node id, timestamp), plus REST and WebSocket. The contract works in both directions: partner sensor detections in, provider-neutral cues out. Built as a sensor layer for third-party C2 and fusion environments, not as a closed appliance. Demonstrator tier runs on an isolated network; the production tier (authenticated transport, role separation, audit log) is scoped, not built.
Target role
Detection and fusion subsystem inside a layered C-UAS / C2 architecture. Work-package contributor in a consortium, not a prime.
What we are asking for
A consortium partner or prime for the sensing and fusion work package. An RF or embedded engineer for the node build. A test range with airspace clearance for controlled UAS trials with ground truth. A C2 integrator willing to consume our feed for an interoperability demonstration.
Next 90 days
First physical nodes assembled → scripted provisioning → inter-node timing check → first outdoor Remote ID decode → first acoustic capture against a known airframe → TDoA against ground truth → published figures (detection range, packet acquisition rate, probability of detection, false-alarm rate, bearing error, association accuracy, end-to-end latency, TDoA CEP50/CEP90) → interoperability demonstration.
